Chromaffina Ondansetron Syrup 50ml Ondansetron 4mg/5ml Oral Solution belongs to a group of medicines called antiemetics, which can stop these effects.

This medication is used to stop nausea and vomiting after:

  • Cancer chemotherapy (in adults and children)
  • Radiation therapy for cancer (adults only)
  • Surgical procedures (adults only).

Instructions for use:

  • Always take exactly as your doctor has told you.
  • Consult your doctor, nurse or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • The dose prescribed to you will depend on the treatment you receive.
  • Do not mix your medicine with anything (not even water) before swallowing it.

To prevent nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy or radiotherapy on the day of chemotherapy or radiotherapy:

  • The usual dose for adults is 8 mg taken 1 to 2 hours before treatment and a further 8 mg 12 hours after.

In the following days

  • The usual dose for adults is two 5ml spoonfuls twice a day

This can be given for up to 5 days to children over 6 months and teenagers:

  • The doctor will decide the dosage based on the child's size (body surface area) or weight.
  • The usual dose for a child is 5 ml spoonful twice a day
  • It can be given for up to 5 days. To prevent nausea and vomiting after the procedure, the usual dose for adults is 4 teaspoonfuls in a 5ml volume before the procedure.

For children over one month of age and adolescents:

  • It is recommended that ondansetron be given as an injection. Patients with moderate to severe liver problems: The total daily dose should not exceed 8 mg (2 5 ml scoops).
  • It should start working within one to two hours of taking your dose.

  • Are allergic to similar medicines, such as granisetron (also known as 'Kytril') or palonosetron
  • You have liver problems
  • You have a blockage in your intestines or suffer from severe constipation
  • You have a problem with the levels of salts in your blood (such as potassium, sodium, and magnesium).
  • If you are not sure whether any of the above applies to you, talk to your doctor, nurse or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
